Employee Spotlight: Charity Wanta

It is no secret that marketing messaging plays a key role in getting the interest and engagement you are looking for. Every sentence, word and punctuation mark matters. In a role all her own, Charity serves as image.works’ one and only senior copy editor. While the majority of her work is done behind the scenes, her impact shines through in the finished product. Our clients’ happiness and their results speak for themselves! By day, Charity uses her detail-oriented superpowers for good – by night, she loves staying active, physically and mentally, whether that’s running, biking, hiking, reading, watching movies or just spending time with her beloved family and pup!

Describe what you do on a day-to-day basis.
My main focus is reviewing (checking grammar, punctuation, spelling) first proofs before they’re sent to our clients and final proofs before they go to the printer. I write newsletter articles, blogs and some client content, and I manage our blog schedule and Newsletter Article Library. I also get to work on seasonal projects, like our catalog and holiday card.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I’m a detailed person and kind of nerdy, so I enjoy the close reading that proofreading requires and looking for needed changes so that our clients’ content is professional and impressive. I also appreciate the opportunity to use my creative side when I’m writing. It makes my day when I hear feedback from our clients about how pleased they are with the final product!

What brought you to image.works?
My career background involves writing for the healthcare and financial industries. After temporarily leaving the workplace to be home with my children while they were young, I found image.works, where I can draw upon my past writing experience and be part of an amazing team of talented, creative, friendly, helpful, hard-working people.

How has image.works influenced you or helped you grow?
Before I came to image.works, my work involved mainly technical content, so the creativity that’s encouraged here is a welcome change! While I’m proofreading, I get to learn about many relevant and important topics. On top of that, there are the people, seriously! The culture here emphasizes teamwork: We help each other with workload, brainstorm creative ideas together and congratulate each other for a job well done.

What is the most “Wisconsin” thing about you?
When I was a senior in high school, I won the title of Dairy Fest Queen First Runner-Up and rode in a convertible during the Dairy Fest Parade.

What do you think is the most admirable characteristic a person can have?
I have a huge appreciation for reliability; it’s about commitment and being trustworthy and faithful. I teach my children to do what they say they’ll do, to be there on time, prepared. Show up for people, work and school. Be all there, focused; do your best. Make sure others can count on you. Have their back. Be the same person and do the right thing, even if it’s hard, whether someone’s watching or not.

If you could learn a new skill, what would it be?
I’d like to get my motorcycle license.

How do you define success?
I will know I’ve been successful when I someday hear my Maker say, “Well done.”
